Make It Hybrid Monday- Graduation Cap Box

With graduation around the corner, here is a quick and easy project using just a few pieces of patterned paper/ cardstock and some leftover string. I used the papers from Just One Kiss to mimic a black graduation cap but you create the same project in any variety of colors and tassels.

Pick up the many pieces from this kit now while you can!

Supplies needed:
One 7 1/2″ inch square piece of cardstock (for base of box)
One 5 5/8”  inch square piece of cardstock (for lid of box)
One 5″ inch square piece of cardstock (for card)
String
Glue dots
Scissors

To create the base of the box:
– Score 7 1/2″ square cardstock at 2″ on all four sides and make vertical cuts along the scored lines on all four sides to create a flap in each corner. Adhere each corner flap of the cardstock and fold into a box.

To create the box lid:
– Score 5 5/8″ square cardstock at 1″ on all four sides and make vertical cuts along the scored lines on all four sides to create a flap in each corner. Adhere each corner flap of the cardstock and fold together to create box lid.

To create the top of the cap:
Fold a 5” x5” inch piece of cardstock in half and adhere to the top  of the box

To create the tassel:
Wrap your string 12-20 times around hand. Pull loop off hand and wrap horizontally around the loop itself 1-3 inches down from the top. Cut the string and tuck inside loop

Place a glue dot in the center top of the cap and attach tassel. Cut a circle of card stock large enough to cover glue dot and attach on top of tassel. Decorate and embellish as desired

Happy crafting!
