Tips,Tricks and Techniques

Hello my name is Sheila, tweederbug in digiland. This was supposed to be a Tuesday post but I forgot to post. Yes,I know, silly me but with 2 little ones screaming in my ear daily,my mind wonders. I am going to give you a quick tip on how to add vignette to a photo in CS2 and believe through CS4.

Open your photo in Photoshop CS2.

* Edit your photo to your liking: You can run a web sharpening by going to

filter>sharpen>sharpen

* Crop your picture and resize to your likings. If you don’t crop and resize to your liking, the vignette will also be cropped. Leaving the photo to look a bit out of focus.

* Then to add the vignette to your picture

filter>distort>lens correction.

* Another screen will then pop up for you to adjust the vignette in the vignette section. Move the slider to the left to darken and to the right to lighten.

* After you are finished click on ok or you can click on cancel if you change your mind.

Here is an example of a vignette photo that I did using these steps:

I had someone ask me how to do a vignette in PSE7. This is a quick tut on how to do it.

Basic Vignette
* Make sure black is the foreground color(press D).
* Use the Rectangular or Elliptical Marquee Tool to select the central portion of your photo.
* Invert the selection (Shift+Control+I).
* Apply a high feather (try 60-120 pixels again).
* Create a new layer and fill the selection with black (Alt+backspace).

How that you all enjoyed this quick Tip on how to add a vignette to your photos. Make sure that you check out Trixie Scraps store at Gottapixel. She has lots of goodies in her store and a new release called This Women’s Work, A Collab with Whimpy Chompers Designs.

    Great tutorial, nice and precise.
I love them – please keep em up.
I also really love screen captures of actual settings, for shadows, blending as they make me feel more confident I have the boxes ticked and at least a pro starting point to tweak from. I thought you might find that feedback interesting, this tut didn’t neccesarily need it, but I love saving them all in a folder to refer to when needed.
Thanks for the freebies too, great!
