Masters Monday {Using Sunbursts in Your Layouts}

Happy Monday everyone! Today I want to share with you a fun technique that is ideal to use on your sunny summer layouts. Sunburst designs are all the rage right now, and they can really make a layout pop by drawing the eye right to the most important part of the page. Just a quick scroll through the Trixie Scraps gallery turns up a whole ton of fabulous pages that use this fun design, so let’s take a look at some of them.

Scrap Star Carrin has created a beautiful sunburst design on the upper portion of her page by layering two solid papers. Having the paper beams radiate out of the central cluster of photos creates a ton of visual interest on the page. By restricting the sunburst to the top portion of the page, she has also left herself plenty of space to fit her journaling on the lower half without it being too busy.

Layered papers are also used to create a sunburst design on this gorgeous page by Scrap Star Stacy. I love the rainbow effect she has created by using various colors of paper in the same pattern. It is an especially nice contrast to the black and white photo that lies at the center of the sunburst. Once again, the placement of the photo at the center of the sunburst really helps to draw the eye into the main image on the page.

You don’t always have to use multiple papers to create a sunburst! Plenty of Trixie Scraps kits contain papers that already have a sunburst pattern on them. This layout by Scrap Star Lori makes perfect use of a yellow sunburst paper from the recently released Bratitude kit. The sunny color of the paper works perfectly with these photos, and the positioning of the title along the top of the large photo is centered perfectly under the focal point of the sunburst. It really makes the title look like it is radiating off the page!
