Make It Hybrid Monday- Explosion Box

Happy Monday and hope that everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day and iNSD weekend. With May in full swing and graduations, weddings and Father’s Day around the corner, here is another gift giving idea for any occasion. Today, we will be making an explosion box that is not only a box but also opens up to reveal a special message.

For today’s project, you will need:
* Paper cutter with scoring blade
* One 7 1/2 inch square of double sided patterned paper for box bottom
* One 4 1/4 inch square of double sided patterned paper for box lid
* Adhesive

First, take the 7 1/2 inch square piece of double sided patterned paper and score at 2 1/2 inches and 5 inches on one side. Then, turn the patterned paper 90 degrees and score at 2 1/2 inches and 5 inches again. When you are completed, there will be nine 2 1/2 inch squares scored on your patterned paper

Second, score the four corner squares diagonally from the outside corner in towards the middle square. Prefold all scores, folding the diagonal scores in towards the middle of the box. If you would like to add a special message at the bottom of the box, include it in the box center now. Otherwise, set aside the bottom of the box for now

Third, take the 4 1/4 inch piece of double sided patterned paper and score it at 7/8 inch on each side

Fourth, cut the vertical score lines on two opposite sides until they intersect with the horizontal ones. That will make the glue tabs and adhere the glue tabs that you just created to the sides of the lid.

Finally, assemble and decorate the box, adding any additional items such as tags, ribbon or candy that you would like to include
